British luxury fashion house Burberry has unveiled a new campaign showcasing its iconic Outerwear.
Titled 'Its Always Burberry Weather: Postcards from London' it features four short films starring Academy Award-winning actor Olivia Colman and international supermodels, Amelia Gray, Liu Wen, Lucky Blue Smith, Mona Tougaard and Tyson Beckford.
Directed by John Madden, whose work includes 'Shakespeare in Love', 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin' and 'Operation Mincemeat', the films follow the adventures of first-time tourists (played by the supermodels), who encounter a variety of locals (all portrayed by Colman). From a cricket enthusiast to a woman behind a chip shop counter, her performances capture the essence of everyday London life.
Each of the vignettes showcases Burberry outerwear with Colman wearing the Castleford trench coat in beige, Amelia Gray in the Floriston quilted jacket in mahogany, Liu Wen in the Fitzrovia trench coat in clam beige, Lucky Blue Smith in the Snowdon puffer jacket in truffle Burberry Check, Mona Tougaard in the Berryhill padded car coat in ice and Tyson Beckford in the Chestwood trench coat in clay brown.
'Each film celebrates just a few of the many characters you'll encounter in London,' Chief Creative Officer at Burberry Daniel Lee, stated.
Drawing on more than 165 years of heritage, Burberry has introduced more styles to its expanding outerwear family with Modern interpretations and Outdoors-inspired designs fused with refined fabrics. The palette ranges from earthy clay brown and coal grey to deep mahogany and twilight blue Soft neutral hues of clam and ice refresh the Burberry beige, grounded by core colors of camel, navy and black.
Highlights of the collection are as follows:
- Rainwear such as the Castleford trench crafted in Yorkshire from water-resistant cotton gabardine, a new A-line shaped Fitzrovia coat, and for men, the relaxed-fit Chestwood inspired from an archive Burberry trench from the 1980s.
- Blending heritage raincoats with modern down-filled design are the Berryhill car coat shaped to a bold fit-and-flare and the Floriston jacket with a boxy cut, in shiny nylon trimmed with corduroy based on the classic quilted jacket.
- the Kensington trench cut from technical cashmere that is brushed for a soft finish, and the Belmont trench cape with rainwear elements in wool
- aviator jackets featuring shearling spilling from the lapels, a wool blend bomber jacket,
- Down-filled puffer jackets reimagined in corduroy and the iconic check in rich colorways - wine red for women and truffle brown for men.
To further showcase its new outerwear collection Burberry has launched a series of immersive pop-ups and heritage-inspired windows at select locations in China, Japan and Korea. Store pop-ups are inspired by the spirit of rail adventures, and the romance of returning to London by train while the pop-up interiors blend the industrial aesthetic of historic train stations with Arts and Crafts detailing.
